Electricity for an average consumption of family of 5.
Is there a formula with different parameters to calculate it, like given KWH, and location latitude, and, size of storage needed (of batteries) for night operation.

sorry. you cant do it more effectively, safer, cheaper or reliably than the power company. they have been doing it for 100+ years and (no offense) they obviously know a little more about this subject than you. youre a consumer. you shouldnt generate power; you should reduce your power consumption! buy new windows, an on-demand water heater, insulation, convert all appliances to gas and install scavenging heat exchangers. here a just a few reasons:

1) IMHO, there are only 2 practical ways to generate power on a small scale. build a hydroelectric dam or anærobic digester to make methane/H2S. both are pretty awesome. windmills are decent. use them to pump water uphill to store the power as potential kinetic energy instead of using it to heat a battery.

2) solar panels almost never return the initial cost. they are expensive, have a short life span, need to be @ 90° to the sun for max. efficacy, and consume large areas. the only reason to buy them is to further research into their improvement and to prove that there will be a commercial market for solar collection, current technology notwithstanding. <-- biggest word i can spell.

3) due to some problems arising from the maximum power transfer theorem, the combination of power generation and battery storage will never exceed 50% efficiency. when you discharge a battery, less than 50% of the power stored the battery can be discharged at less than 50% efficiency. 50% of 50% of 50% is 12.5%. 12.5% is not saving the planet or your money. there are ways around this. e.g. Vl= Vs* Rl/(Rl+Rs) | lim Rs-->0 or lim Rl–>∞. it doesnt matterwhich you chose, they have the same result. the power company lives by this. if your house isnt listed on the stock market, consider it a financial impossibility.

3) “Starrysky” has seen it done without batteries but that can be very hard on the system and can/will cause premature failure. nobody is a fan of anything ‘premature’. you will want some form of storage/conditioning in an inversion system. you want the power that can be supplied to the inverter to remain predictably the same. add a couple grand of electrochemical capacitors and a couple grand of batteries. the problem is that you dont want any thing in you house that can store THAT MUCH power. power is neither created or destroyed. face it, you are charging a bomb up with thousands of watt-hours of energy. are you familiar with a simultaneous B,C,E and D class thermobaric BLEVE/VCEs (aka “blast leveling everything very effectively/very cool explosion” *or something like that*)? i am. Youll S*** bricks when you see it… Youll S*** bricks WHEN you see it!!! with that type of fire, metal, water, and sulfuric acid all burn. during the charging process batteries create hydrogen sulfide. when hydrogen sulfide burns, (the sulfuric acid has even more energy) it releases 4x the energy of propane ( which could BLEVE the sulfuric acid). it is a reduction fire; it does not require oxygen to burn. also, in the presence of hydrogen sulfide, iron turns into FeS which is pyrophoric. it is so dangerous that chemists wont store a sample of it any where that it could touch air. i assume, but dont actually know, that it is probably stored in kerosene, like alkali metals. if you wonder what the effects are, combine all these videos into one event, but scale it down a little.

there are more reasons suchas the upkeep of FLA vs. VRLA batteries. consider the effects of square-wave inverted, off-grid power on electronics devices vs. grid supplied sine wave synchronization. do you want a rotary converter?

that is but a few. alas, im tired of typing… you got the point right? DOUBLE-PANE, ARGON FILLED WINDOWS WITH ULTRAVIOLET REFLECTIVE GLAZING! can i design and build the perfect system that you want? YES. do i do this crap for a living? YES. ill tell you the same thing i tell everyone of my customers before they sign a contract: “the refined substances in this system are EXTREMELY toxic and can not be disposed of outside EPA regulations. it is very likely it will never return the initial cost, and if it does, buy me a lottery ticket as a sign of your gratitude. if you sign this piece of paper out of some stupid ideology due to you being misguided and uneducated in this subject, you really are a f*cking idiot.” almost all still sign the contract. i have installed over 20,000 USD just in the copper wire contained witin a AC/DC/AC rectification/electrochemical/inversion system before lunch break. these fools cant even tell me the difference between 4/0 and 777Mcmil cable. most people just proceed to tell me how to do my job, which they dont understand, and cant even define.
