Google BIPV

If you are using BIPV, you should consider built-in lighting systems that utilize white LEDs (in addition to designing for daylighting as much as possible). Also consider heat effects on PV efficiency; you might design a system that sucks heat from PV panels and transfers it to domestic water heating system.

I believe BIPV roof panels are rated 15-20 years, comparable to shingles. In computing costs, don’t forget tax benefits (credits) for renewable energy choices. May depend on your state, talk to a local installer & accountant to confirm before deciding.
