Prius Solar Panels Batteries
Has anyone tried these methods of improving Prius MPG’s?
I’ve heard several somewhat unorthodox methods of improving milage on the Toyota Prius and wondered if anyone has tried them, do they work, would you recommend them? The first is removing the rear seat to reduce weight. What about replacing all the glass with Lexan for the weight savings there? How about getting narrower tires to reduce road friction? Lastly, how about adding stick-on solar panels to the roof to keep the battery charged all the time?
first of all it is your driving habits you have to change you are probably seeing about 45 highway and 50 city at best .the Prius will be better on gas in warmer climates ,if you live any place that has winter (that means snow) you fuel economy will go down slightly, plus as the car ages it will do better on gas. as for improving there is a company in cal. that does aftermarket stuff ,however it is price. the car is aerodynamically designed so if you mess with it , it will produce drag on your car and reduce mpg. i know because i sell them here in Kansas city. the ac does not effect mpg because it is run by the battery, accelerate slower ,remember it has a different gearing then a normal car.
