How can i make a difference to global warming?
I cannot afford to get solar panels on my roof or to drive a battery operated car. What can i do to make a difference?
Just do things that save you money — those very same things will also, for the most part, reduce your energy consumption (and hence, CO2 emissions).
What you can really do to make a difference is to educate yourself about the science well enough to be able to dismantle the bogus arguments put forth here (and elsewhere) by AGW “skeptics”.
If you have friends/family members who have been bamboozled by AGW “skeptic” arguments, you can use your knowledge of the science to show them how all the “skeptic” arguments are wrong.
Hopefully, a few of those friends/family will do the same and convince *others*.
With a solid understanding of the science, you will be in a better position to impress your friends/family members that we have a real problem here — hopefully, they will be motivated to let their elected representatives know that a global climate deal is in *all* of our interests.
Individual action (drive a hybrid, install solar panels, etc.) is all nice and wonderful, but it won’t matter much unless pretty much the whole world is on board. And to make that happen, you will need to educate yourself so that you can educate and motivate others — if enough people do *that*, then the politicians will be more motivated to sign onto a meaningful global climate deal.
If your elected officials are “fence sitters”, then there is quite a bit you can do along these lines. Contact your elected officials and let them know of your concerns. And after educating your friends/family, encourage them to do the same.
