Solar Panel Mono

How to choose charge controller for solar system?
Using only one PV module, for example a 140W mono panel, will MPPT charge controller be more efficient (producing more watts) than PWM charge controller? if Yes, by how much?
You size a charge controller based on the short circuit current (Isc) of the solar panels. I’m guessing you would need around a 12 – 15A charge controller. An MPPT charge controller can increase the output by around 25 – 30%.
To compare apples to apples, you can see a 15A MPPT charge controller for $234 http://www.altestore.com/store/Charge-Controllers/Solar-Charge-Controllers/MPPT-Solar-Charge-Controllers/Morningstar-MPPT-Solar-Controllers/Morningstar-SunSaver-MPPT-15A-Charge-Controller/p6185/ vs a PWM for $95 http://www.altestore.com/store/Charge-Controllers/Solar-Charge-Controllers/PWM-Type-Solar-Charge-Controllers/Morningstar-Charge-Controllers-PWM/Morningstar-ProStar-PS-15-15A-Charge-Controller-without-Display-1224V/p787/ .
edit: smaller arrays may not benefit as much from an MPPT as larger ones, so it may not be worth it for a single module.
