Solar Panel Pool Heating

Can solar panels be used in smaller heating elements?
I know that solar power can be used to generate heat for pools, water heaters and such things on a larger scale, but can it work on a smaller scale? Can a small solar panel be used to generate heat to heat up something smaller? For instance, can the solar powered patio lights (LED) be modified to be used to heat a small heating element?
Nightwind: I am basically testing to see if these solar patio lights can heat a copper wire rather lighting the LED light. I can’t seem to find much info on what it takes to actually warm a copper wire. Not really needing it to become super hot, just warm. I was first thinking of exothermic reactions to do this, but solar energy seems to me to be the way to go. Much appreciative on the answers.
Yes.
But it would not very effective for heating.
You could replace the little LED light with a section of thin wire with the same resistance. As far as the little storage batteries go, it wouldn’t know the difference. But before you start tearing apart the patio light, take that section of wire and the battery to see how much heat it will produce.
Be careful. It could get hot.
