Solar Panel Voltage

Is it possible to decrease voltage and increase amps from a solar panel?
I’ve got a solar panel which specifies max power voltage 15V, max power current 350mA, 5 Watts. Can i convert it somehow to get 5V and 1A to charge my Tablet phone?
Am I correct in thinking 5W = 15V x 0.35A, so then 5W = 5V x 1.05A?
Yes your reasoning is correct, if we change the voltage and keep the same power, we get more current. But to change voltages at DC, you need some electronics. For a small converter this size, youd be looking at around maybe 60% efficiency in reality (the larger they get, the more efficient they become…) So 5watts in, means in practice about 3 watts out, and at 5 volts thats less than 1 amp…. So it is possible in theory, but when you consider the situation from a practical point of view, its not so simple…Try this: you can buy small voltage converters which will take 12 volts down to 5 volts, designed to be used in your car to power small USB devices. See if you can find one, it is probably your best chance. But like I said, you may not be able to get the full 1 amp out with only 5 watts in…
