Can you get a rebate on something that you win as a prize?
Ok, so my family won a contest for a home energy makeover. GRU, which is Gainesville Regional Utilities is going to give us new appliances and a new roof and solar panels. We are going to have to pay 30,000 of income tax. Here in Florida, you can get very large rebates, like up to 20,000 for solar panels. It says that upon purchasing the solar panels, you need to apply for the rebate. We really want this rebate to help pay for the income tax, so is it possible to get a rebate on these solar panels even though we arent technically “paying” for them. GRU is going to use up to 100,000 to pay for all of the energy upgrades, and that money counts as income so thats why we are gonna own 30,000. So do we qualify for the rebate?
