In Hawaii what do the average houses look like – what is their design??r=1239361884?
On google internet we would think that everyone lives in highly expensive houses, or the occasional slum. No properties are shown that are between these two. I would like some photos of normal houses in Hawaii and to find out if they need weatherization to cut down on their energy usage e.g. 4000 solar hot water panels are sold in Hawaii, that’s 4x Calfornia, 2.6 x UK, and 1/38th of what is sold in Germany. What about air sealing and insulation for these homes. And how many people need to cut their energy bills? How effective is LIHEAP and WAP? Anyone interested please let me know as I’m very interested in island communities and energy efficiency in homes? If anyone’s got similar data or photos of typical housing on other Pacific islands I’m equally interested please. Many thanks guys.
For normal (=not rich haulis) Hawaiians, solar hot water makes a lot of sense when electricity comes from burning oil. It isn’t cheap. Insulation and sealing isn’t so big as the climate, buffered by the ocean, is fairly benign. After the HWS and tumble drier, the next biggest use is probably lighting or plasma TVs.
